FAQs

What is ThaliFit?

ThaliFit is the world's first AI food portioning app. It doesn't just track what you ate,  it tells you how much to eat before you eat it.

Snap a photo of your plate, and ThaliFit shows you the right portion of each dish based on your calorie and macro goals.

With support for 43 cuisines — 22 Indian regional cuisines and 21 global cuisines — it handles the food you actually eat.

How does portion guidance actually work?

Scan your plate or multiples dishes on the table, or scan a menu and ThaliFit's AI identifies each dish. It then calculates how much of each dish you should eat to stay within your calorie and macro budget for that meal.

You'll see a percentage on each dish — like "65% of your chapati" — so you have a guide on how much of the dish to consume. Toggle Smart Portions on, and the app adjusts your entire meal to save calories without removing any dish from your plate.

What cuisines and diets are supported?

43 cuisines in total — 22 Indian regional cuisines including South Indian, Bengali, Punjabi, Hyderabadi, Chettinad, Kashmiri, and more, plus 21 global cuisines.

Over 5 diet types including vegetarian, non-vegetarian, Jain, pescatarian and vegan, with 30+ allergy filters. Your portions, meal plans, and recipes all adapt to your cuisine, diet, and allergies automatically.

How accurate is the AI?

The AI identifies your dish from a photo, then pulls verified nutrition data from the Indian Nutrient Databank and the USDA food database — so calories come from a real food database, not AI guesses. AI works best with clear, well-lit photos from above and the protein or main ingredient clearly shown.

You can always correct a dish manually if needed.

Does it work with Apple Health and Google Fit?

Yes. ThaliFit syncs steps and calories from Apple Health (iOS) and Health Connect (Android). Syncing is optional and read-only.

Is my data safe?

Yes. Your data is stored securely on Google Cloud. We never sell your data. Food photos are used for dish identification only and are not stored on our servers.
